My experience here prompted me to write this review. I do not recall the staff persons name that I worked with and only have the initials of SGK on my receipt for cashier. Anyhow, shopping anywhere in Boston on Labor Day is mayhem wherever you go, and the folks @ Timberland were awesome. I tried one model shoe in three different sizes and color variations and the woman was hands down awesome. It was busy and she offered great customer service. What I also liked is that she owned the same shoe and knew the fit well vs the high top. She also provided expert info on care of the shoe; weatherizing with appropriate "balm proofed" for wet weather. I highly recommend the Timberland store; shoes and clothing are of good quality and excellent customer service. Thank you!

I've been meaning to write this review for well over a year, which is crazy because you must imagine several times in the past year, despite all the real things that happen in life, I have thought about the Timberland store on Newbury street. Even crazier is that with these thoughts comes a little guilt for not doing what I felt was right, what they deserve... a damn good Yelp review.
Well over a year ago I bought some 'Timbs' from Journeys. I had bought them a half size too small but thought for sure that they would stretch out. They did not stretch out, they completely maintained their form for two months through Boston's salty winter.
My all black Timbs looked so good and kept my feet warm and dry. They hurt like a btch though. From my boney back heel to my boney baby toe. They started hurting so bad to feel the pain up through my legs.
So I went to the Timberland Store on Newbury Street and was greeted by Murray (spelling?). I explained the situation and utter pain I was in. I asked him if he had any advice to stretch the boots out, maybe a special oil or shoe horn, idk. Murray told me not to worry about. He went into the back grabbed the proper size and had me try them on. He then pointed out that I currently owned the summer line without fleece lining and that he could exchange them for the winter line in the proper size if I wanted. I was shocked. I thought for sure I would have to pay for my mistake but here was Murray correcting my misjudged sizing AND offering me the warmer option (which is extremely necessary for Boston winters). It was so considerate I was shocked.
I still have those boots and they are pretty beat up. I wore them loose to look cool and laced them all the way up to look proper. They started to reflect the abusive wearing I was subjecting them too. But I just couldn't part with them. So I went back to the Timberland store over a year later and guess who was there? Murray!
Now he didn't remember me, thats okay, whatever. But he took care of things again! The new line of the same boot that year had a tan fleece lining and I very specifically wanted all black everything. Murray understood this and found me a pair of my boots at an outlet, in another state, even cheaper than the first pair I bought. They were shipped to my house within a week!
Never in retail have I experienced such great customer service like that. It genuinely felt as though he was just a good person working at Timberland and made a great impression on the store and brand as a whole.
Thanks so much, Nikki

I am just an occasional Yelper, but I had to log on specifically to recount the fantastic customer service experience that I received at this particular store.
I purchased a pair of Timberland boots about a month ago at CitySports (R.I.P.). I had originally only planned on wearing them during inclement weather, but they were so comfortable that they quickly became my everyday shoe for work and casual situations. Recently, I noticed a small tear had started to develop on the leather loop on the back of one of the shoes. Not too big of a deal, but enough that I was a little bummed.
That brings us to this Timberland store. I was out and about, getting some final holiday gifts on Newbury Street, when I decided on a whim to go into this establishment and see if they could do anything about the rip. I'm not sure what I expected, but I figured that the best case would be that they would be able to ship them to a repair center for a small cost. I was totally mistaken.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the owner, Sarah, wrapping a gift for a gentleman in some fantastic reflective wrapping paper. From what I quickly gathered, the man had asked for a gift box, and while they didn't have one, Sarah sent a employee to the corner store for wrapping supplies. So, impressive customer service off the bat.
I showed Sarah my boots and told her that I had purchased them at CitySports. She immediately said that they stand behind their products and it wouldn't matter that I had bought them elsewhere, they would make it right. They would either replace the boots or pay to have them fixed at a nearby cobbler. Her employee checked the back room, and came out with a brand new identical pair of my boots. I tried them on, and as simple as that, I was able to exchange my original pair and walk out with the new ones. Wow!
Thank you, Sarah, for making things right and blowing away my expectations when you had no immediate obligation to do so. I'll definitely be back to shop at this store, knowing that whatever I purchase there will be a good investment for years to come.

I've been to this Timberland's store about 3 or 4 times as I decided whether or not to buy a certain pair of boots for the winter. After doing some research on the internet, I realized they have great products. I went in to try on an exact size due to the reviews I read on their website. I tried on the junior and women's size in the insulated 6 inch black boot. The junior size fit better than the women's size and it was about $20 less. I also found out they have a student discount of 20%!
I purchased leather water resistant gloves and the cleaning spray for my boots, all 3 items for about $150! Totally worth it for amazing quality! The staff on the floor know all about the products, even when I hit them with curve-ball questions.

Did not feel welcomed at all. Would rather order online and deal with hassle of waiting for shipping and whatever else than step into this store again.

The store is well designed and the staff is super friendly. They always have dog treats too if you have an animal which is really nice. Timberlands tend to run large, so try on a 1/2 to full size less than you normally would. The store is a great showroom but if you looking for some of their generic shoes you can often find them cheaper online.

specifically went to newbury street over the weekend to use a gift card I got for xmas. its the only official store around. I went for boots.... work boots. que the wahwah sound. not a big selection of functional boots that wouldn't get you laughed off a job site. the store products and staff were all very nice, but it is newbury street so I guess I shouldn't have expected a lunch pail selection. I was informed that my best option was to go to sears or some other retailer try on a pair I like then just order them through the official website, nice advice... tho I found a pair I really like and my size is currently unavailable on the official site. wha whah again

I've always liked Timberland footwear. I don't mind paying a bit more for an item that will last me an exceptionally longer amount of time than its competitors. As far as the brand goes, I like Timberland's wares, and I only have two gripes. One being that the clothes, while certainly well made, never fit me and I have to pay extra to have them tailored. The second is the contrasting quality of their shoe laces in comparison to their shoes/boots. Across multiple purchases of Timberland footwear I've always found myself replacing the laces frequently. Now let me segue into the reason I docked an extra star on this location. The staff here, in my multiple experiences, have always been friendly and personable. However I feel like they don't truly stand behind their offers of service. On my last visit, looking to invest in a new pair of boots, I was also hoping for some assistance in regards to the aforementioned quality of shoe laces. I had purchased a pair of shoes about a month or so earlier and well before my return to this location, one side of the laces was seriously fringed. I inquired about having the laces replaced, or what else I could do to remedy the situation, and the sales reps didn't even try to help me with my problem. They essentially told me I was SOL, and moved on to looking into what they could sell me.
